The Westmoreland Project

Westmoreland County Generating Station, Pennsylvania

Key Facts
Tenaska is evaluating a site in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, to build a clean-burning natural gas-fueled electric generating station with a stated capacity of no more than 950 megawatts (MW) of electricity.

Location
The site selected for evaluation is more than 400 acres south of Interstate 70 between exits 49 and 51 in South Huntingdon Township, Pennsylvania.

Schedule
Project development began in 2009; Earliest construction start would be in 2012; Earliest commercial operation would be in 2014.

Tenaska understands the importance of water now and for future generations. The proposed plant will recycle water through the coolŽing process multiple times to maximize use of the water purchased.

Fuel Supply
An existing regional natural gas pipeline near the site would deliver clean-burning natural gas to the facility.

Customer
The facility would connect to the PJM Interconnection regional transmission organization, which coordinates movement of power in all or parts of 13 regional states, including Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia.

Facility Ownership
A Tenaska affiliate would build, own and operate the plant.
